Stripe
To begin collecting revenue in Rotor—whether by saving credit cards on file, linking to customer bank accounts, or accepting instant online payments—you must first set up a Stripe Connect account. This process creates a dedicated Stripe account specifically for your Rotor platform. This integration allows Rotor to automatically track payouts, issue refunds, manage invoices, and handle payment processing without you ever having to leave the app.

[IMPORTANT] A Note on Data Portability: If you are moving to Rotor from another software system, saved credit card information cannot be transferred from your old Stripe account to your new Rotor Stripe account due to industry-wide security restrictions. You will need to collect new payment methods from your customers once the connection is live.
Step 1: Navigating to the Stripe Integration Page
On Desktop: Locate the Settings gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar.
Select Stripe: From the secondary settings menu, click on the Stripe tab.
On Mobile: There isn’t a way to visit this on the app so use this link to pull it up on browser: https://app.getrotor.com/settings/stripe-connect/
Step 2: Initiating the Connection
Once you are on the "Stripe Connect Integration" screen:
Select Your Country: Use the dropdown menu to select the country where your business is based (e.g., United States or Canada).
Click Connect: Press the red Connect Stripe Account button. You will be redirected to the secure Stripe registration portal.
Step 3: Registering Your Business
The Stripe onboarding flow will guide you through several critical verification steps:
Email Entry: Enter your business email. If Stripe recognizes this email, it may ask to link an existing account; otherwise, select New Business.
Business Type: Select your legal structure (e.g., Individual, Company, or Nonprofit).
Business Structure: Choose the specific classification that matches your government filing (e.g., Single-member LLC, Multi-member LLC, or Private Corporation).
Select Continue.
Legal Details: Enter your Legal Business Name and Employer Identification Number (EIN) exactly as they appear on your official IRS/government documents.
Address & Website: Provide your physical business address and your website URL (or a detailed product description if you don't have a site).
Step 4: Adding Representatives and Bank Info
Business Representative: Enter the details for the primary account holder. While you can add multiple owners later, the primary representative is required for initial verification.
Bank Details: Enter the Routing Number and Account Number for the business bank account where you want your payouts deposited.
Step 5: Managing the Connection in Rotor
Once you have completed the Stripe side of the setup, you will be sent back to Rotor.
Setup Incomplete: If the page displays a yellow "Setup Incomplete" banner, click Continue Setup to return to Stripe and finish the missing sections.
Ready to Accept Payments: When fully connected, you will see a green checkmark and the status "Ready to Accept Payments".
Stripe Dashboard: You can click the Open Stripe Dashboard button at any time to sign in to Stripe and view your gross volume, successful payments, and transaction history.
Final Thoughts
Connecting Stripe is the most important step in automating your back-office operations. By keeping your information accurate to your government records, you ensure same-day or near-instant approval, allowing you to get paid immediately for the work you do in the field.
Tips for a Smooth Setup
Match Official Records: Discrepancies between your entered name/EIN and government records are the #1 cause of verification delays.
Monitor Your Payouts: Use the Stripe Dashboard to track "Payments in Transit" to know exactly when money will hit your bank account.
Don't Disconnect: Avoid clicking "Disconnect Stripe" unless you are directed to do so by support, as this can disrupt active customer payment methods.
Congratulations!
You are now ready to start collecting payments through Rotor! Your account is fully equipped to handle professional invoicing, secure card storage, and automated payment processing.
