How to Use the Map Page in the Rotor Mobile App

The Map page in the Rotor mobile app is built to help you move efficiently in the field—especially for door-to-door sales, territory management, and neighborhood follow-ups. Whether you're checking in on active customers, revisiting one-time clients, or tracking daily knocking performance, the map gives you a real-time visual command center.

This guide walks through how to filter, navigate, drop pins, draw territories, and use advanced features like lasso reporting—with clear instructions on which buttons to press to maximize your efficiency.

Understanding Map Icons

Different icons represent different record types. Knowing exactly what you’re looking at allows you to prioritize your route without opening every file.

Active Customers (Gold Stars)

Visual

  • Displayed as bright gold stars.

Interaction

  • Tapping a cluster (a circle with a number) automatically zooms into that neighborhood.

  • Tapping an individual gold star opens a mini-profile.

Data Shown

  • Primary Service Type

  • Frequency (e.g., One-time, Quarterly, Semiannual)

  • Notes from technicians or reps

Deep Dive

  • Tap “See Details” to open the full customer card.

💡 Door-to-door tip: Filter your map to show only One-time customers to revisit previous clients and convert them to recurring service plans.

Leads (Black or White Stars)

Visual

  • Black stars in Light Mode

  • White stars in Dark Mode

Interaction

  • Tap a lead to see:

    • Interested service

    • Notes from intake

  • Tap the lead name to open the full lead card.

Pins (Door-to-Door Tracking)

Pins are typically used for high-volume knocking interactions and are often configured on desktop first.

When tapping a pin, you can:

  • Edit Status – Change “No Answer” to “Interested”

  • Move Location – Adjust if GPS placement was slightly off

  • Navigate – Launch turn-by-turn directions

  • Convert – Turn the pin into a Lead or Customer record

Using Filters

The map can become crowded in dense neighborhoods. To refine your view:

  1. Tap the Filter icon (funnel shape).

  2. Toggle visibility options.

You can filter by:

  • Record Type

    • Active Customers

    • Leads

    • Pins

  • Source & Service

    • Lead Source (e.g., Door Hangers)

    • Service Type (e.g., Gutter Cleaning)

  • Assignment

    • Only My Pins

    • Company-wide data

  • Status

    • Hide inactive customers

    • Focus on revenue-generating accounts

Territories

Territories define knocking zones and team assignments. They appear as colored overlays on the map.

View Boundaries

  • Clearly see where one zone ends and another begins.

Management

  • Tap inside a territory to view the assigned user.

On-the-Fly Editing

  • Edit boundaries

  • Reassign to a different team member

  • Delete when an area is cleared

Map Types & Views

Rotor supports multiple map providers and display options.

Street Map (Default)

  • iPhone users: Defaults to Mapbox

    • Recommended for U.S. door-to-door work because it displays home numbers clearly.

  • Android users: Defaults to Google Maps.

Satellite View

  1. Tap the Layers icon (stacked squares).

  2. Select Satellite view.

Options include:

  • Apple Maps Satellite – Cleaner, more polished imagery.

  • Mapbox Satellite – More general imagery with strong street-level clarity.

Marker Clustering (Recommended)

Keep clustering enabled in settings:

  • Groups nearby icons

  • Improves load speed

  • Reduces visual clutter in dense areas

Quick Navigation Tools

At the top of the map:

Search Bar

  • Locate a person by name

  • Jump directly to a specific address

Locate Me Icon (Crosshair)

  • Instantly return to your current GPS location

Adding Leads, Pins, or Customers

While the “+” button works, the fastest method in the field is:

Tap and Hold Method

  1. Press and hold on a rooftop.

  2. Choose:

    • Add Lead

    • Add Customer

    • Drop Pin

  3. The address auto-populates based on GPS.

  4. Select “Current Location” if you prefer your phone’s exact GPS position.

This method is ideal when standing on a porch.

Drawing New Territories

To create a new territory:

  1. Tap the “+” button.

  2. Select Create Territory.

  3. Tap points on the map to drop anchors.

  4. Use:

    • Undo Point if needed

    • Clear Points to restart

  5. Tap Save and assign to a team member.

Using the Lasso Tool (KPI Reporting)

The Lasso tool allows you to generate quick performance reports for a specific area.

How to Use It

  1. Tap the Lasso icon (rope loop).

  2. Draw a circle around a neighborhood.

  3. View instant KPIs such as:

    • Total pins placed

    • Number of “No Answers”

    • Number of “Interested” leads

    • Total sales closed within the circle

This is ideal for end-of-day reporting and accountability.

Dark Mode

For late-evening knocking or reduced glare:

  1. Navigate to More → Settings.

  2. Toggle Dark Mode ON.

Visual Changes

  • Map switches to dark gray/black

  • Lead icons change from black to white for visibility

Final Thoughts

The Map page is designed to be your primary fieldwork tool. By mastering the Press and Hold shortcut and the Lasso tool, you can spend less time on administrative tasks and more time closing deals.

The map ensures:

  • Clear territory ownership

  • No overlapping efforts

  • No house left unvisited

  • Real-time performance visibility

Tips for Using the Map Page Effectively

  • Filter by one-time customers for easy upsell opportunities.

  • Use pins consistently—data is only as good as what you log.

  • Keep clustering enabled for speed.

  • Use lasso reporting at the end of each shift.

  • Assign territories early to avoid confusion.

  • Drop leads immediately while details are fresh.

Congratulations! You’re now ready to fully leverage the Rotor Mobile Map to manage territories, track door activity, revisit customers, and generate new leads efficiently—all from your phone.
